The last (but never the least) one on the "We Live in Technicolor" show by The Goods Dept was no other than the notable Nina Nikicio with her ubiquitous label Nikicio Femme. When i first saw a picture of one of the Nikicio Femme Summer 2012 lookbook, i was a bit overwhelmed. Nikicio, with this kind of print?
Maybe i wasn't ready for this--we all know we don't go to Nikicio for bright pop colors (correct me if i'm wrong). But the picture (with a model wearing abstract floral prints that match the background), made me full of anticipation than ever. It's exciting to see a designer explore the 'different side', don't you think? Besides, from what i see in her previous collections, Nina was never the "too-much" person, and i believed she would nail this, like she always does. And she proved me right.
What i love most about Nina is that she creates stuffs that look 'casual' and a bit 'mundane' at first glance, but when you take a closer look, you can see what makes each of her creation different. The pieces as always had the 'versatile' feel, the assurance of practicality and instant cool. There were many sheer pieces here and there, even in pants, and they come with bright colors such as light blue, shocking pink, and electric blue. The usual 'little details' were also there, such as the blue long dress that has a tulip sillhouette, the extra satin on a black sheer shirtdress, the metal thing on each tip of the collar, the flowers... All fit perfectly.
MY TWO CENTS:
The brand still embraced that 'androgyny' and clean look, yet in this collection, the feel of the brand have shifted to a 'brighter' side, leaving the urban grunge look and attempted a more sophisticated style. The more feminine customer will surely love this. It's not too much to say that Nina has done it again.
My favourite look, respectively. I love the same color from head to toe.
Take a look at the accessory, too. Stiff clutch, but with subtle colors--must have.
